News and PressFOUR SEASONS LIGHTS UP WITH THE UNITED MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION'S 1ST ANNUAL 'EVENING WITH THE STARS' CELEBRITY WAITER AND WAITRESS EVENTWashington, DC (September 25, 2009) - On Wednesday, the United Medical Center Foundation hosted The 1st Annual Evening with the Stars Celebrity Waiter and Waitress Event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown. This inaugural event included a pre-dinner reception, dinner, dancing and silent auction all benefiting The United Medical Center Foundation. Founded in 2008, UMCF is dedicated to implementing forward-thinking wellness initiatives within D.C. Wards 7 and 8 through initiatives through community outreach initiatives such as health screenings, health fairs and educational seminars. Jill Sorensen of Comcast Sports Net acted as the emcee for the night as celebrity waiters and waitresses acted as servers for over 200 guest. The wait staff included former Redskins Player Dexter Manley, Jimmy Alexander of Mix 107's Jack Diamond in the Morning, former Wizard Phil Chenier, former Washington Redskins Darryl Pounds and Chick Hernandez also of Comcast Sports Net. In addition to carrying trays and refilling drinks, the celebrities were asked to perform tricks for "UMCF Dollars" attendees purchased to tip their servers. Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall was also on-site to lend his support. "This truly is a night to remember," said UMCF Chair Calvin Smith. "On a night with so many other festivities going on in the area it’s refreshing to see the community come out in large numbers to support the work of the United Medical Center Foundation." Donated auction items ranging from a pair of shoes owned by Oprah Winfrey to pair of boxing gloves signed by Muhammad Ali.
